DJ Joe J Born Sydney, Australia, Joe J from an early age was surrounded by all expressions of hip hop culture. Growing up in the early 80’s was where it all began. The Breakdance era. “My mates and I would be huddled round a small kitchen lino mat, blazing as loud as possible the likes of ‘Rock Steady Crew’ through some small shitty C60 Radio Shack cassette player. We’d be trying to pop off moves we had seen on a movie titled ‘Beat Street’ The cassette tapes would have the perfect balance of saturation and distortion from over played use”. This was Joe J’s first raw taste of hip hop and it evolved from there. When it comes to hip hop Joe J definitely knows how to keep the heads nodding. He builds a story within his set, guiding the audience on an unexpected hip hop journey, from the 80’s through current day trends.
