Born in Kyoto, Japan and raised in Boston and NYC, Half Japanese /Half American DJ Koji Bamba has always had a passion for music, excelling in jazz saxophone performance during his youth in Boston. Spending his college years in Manhattan, Bamba fell in love with the dance music scene after immersing himself in the depths of all that NYC clublife had to offer. It was there he casually started his DJ career, mixing cool and funky house, electro, breakbeats, progressive, and chill-out in Manhattan’s hip lounges and loft parties. Relocating to Tokyo for his day job, Bamba decided to more seriously pursue his passion and spread the sounds of NYC to Tokyo. He regularly packed the house at his monthly residency at Roppongi’s 57, and continued to branch out to many more venues during his time in Tokyo. He was a regular DJ for the Tokyo promotion Beyond Exposure and performed at such establishments as Legato and Velours, and Hong Kong’s Armani Bar. Koji was a featured DJ in 2009′s Cut&Paste Digital Design Tournament, held at one of Tokyo’s hottest nightclubs WOMB. Capping off his Tokyo stint was an opportunity to perform at one of Asia’s largest and most respected nightclubs, Ageha. Returning to NYC in late 2010, Koji Bamba looks to make an impact in a place he has always called “home”.
