Steve Optix has been playing tunes in front of unsuspecting party people and sun lovers, in the UK and abroad, since ’93! Traversing genres from electro to downtempo, dub to disco, trip hop to boogie, and techno to funk, Steve enjoys dropping a few curve balls and putting some ‘alts’ out there for the listening public. Keeping it Balearic these days, with guest spots spinning other genres scattered throughout, Steve’s currently running regular events throughout the summer months under his North Devon Balearic Society banner, regularly dropping eight hour sets. In recent years he’s built up his Amkucha brand via a weekly radio show on Kane 103.7 FM, and has also been responsible for the all-day Vinyl Lab charity events, and Parents Evening nights re-visiting the Summer of Love. Regularly asked 'what sort of music do you play?' he sums it up in four words - Balearic, Eclectic, Disco, and Edits! Some personal highlights from the last few years include playing Pikes, Ibiza, Word of Mouth Café - Ibiza, Spiritland Kings Cross, Let's Love Life festival, On the Terrace @ Sandy Cove, the Sun Deck in Margate, Number 90 in Hackney, the Vortex Jazz Club, Lligwy Beach Café, Red Light Radio - Amsterdam, and Cafe Belgique.

First and foremost a music fan with eclectic tastes. In the past I have worked for various online magazines/websites as well as my own blog in the dub/chillout genre. I also hosted my own radio show on Boxfrequency.fm and was part of a rota on Rising Edge. I occasionally DJ out, mostly for London's infamous Whirl-Y-Gig and their festival and have put on a few nights of my own.
