Van Allen Clinton McCoy (January 6, 1940 – July 6, 1979) was an accomplished musician, music producer and arranger, songwriter, and orchestra conductor. He is best known for his massive 1975 international hit “The Hustle”, which is still played on dance floors and radio.

Delegation was formed in the UK in the mid 70s by Ricky Balley, Len Coley and Roddy Harris. Working with producer/writer Ken Gold, they began releasing a series of modestly successful UK singles. Generally viewed in the US as a "one hit wonder," Delegation actually had a relatively long group career and a fair amount of international success, particularly in Europe. (Soul Tracks)
The Sylvers. Among the more popular family acts on the '70s R&B circuit, Memphis' Sylvers recorded for Pride, MGM, Capitol, Casablanca, and Geffen during their 13-year chart run. No less than nine of the ten brothers and sisters in the family -- Olympia, Leon, Charmaine, James, Edmund, Ricky, Angie, Pat, Foster - performed in the group that was viewed as a Southern version of the Jackson 5.
McFadden and Whitehead was a talented duo that made its mark in songwriting, production, and recording. They are best known, however, for their signature tune "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now". They wrote and produced some of the most popular R&B hits of the 1970s, and were primarily associated with Gamble and Huff's Philadelphia International soul music record label. (Soul Tracks)
David Joseph was the keyboardist and at times de facto leader of Hi-Tension, a late-'70s disco outfit whose hits such as the "British Hustle" were largely confined to the United Kingdom. Joseph left the band in 1984, a year after releasing a solo album on Island Records. (All Music)
One of the greatest lead singers the Motown stable ever had, David Ruffin became one of the artistic cornerstones of the Temptations. Unfortunately, ever-mounting internal pressures within the group, coupled with Ruffin's swelling ego, led to his dismissal from the group in late 1968. His last hit to reach the Top Ten was the Van McCoy-produced dance ballad "Walk Away From Love," from 1976. Unfortunately, Ruffin's career, marred by years of substance abuse and artistic indifference, culminated in his death from a drug overdose in 1991.
James Albert Ross, also known as Mel Turner - Singer from Trinidad who teamed up with the Italians of Kano to write the disco anthems “First True Love Affair” (remixed by Larry Levan) and “Fall Into A Trance”. Surprisingly, Jimmy Ross used to live in Belgium in the 1970s, recording for the country singer and amusement park owner Bobbejaan Schoepen. Jimmy Ross passed away in 2000.
Since the breakup of the Drells in 1980, Archie Bell has pursued a solo career. Bell later released one solo album (I Never Had It So Good - 1981) on Beckett Records and continued to perform with The Drells off and on for the next twenty years. (Wikipedia)
